Rose Street String Quartet - Classical - City of Edinburgh
Band ProfileThe Rose Street Quartet is an Edinburgh based string quartet and can frequently be stumbled upon performing in and around the City. We are highly experienced in the provision of a musical backdrop to weddings, corporate events and private functions, as well as performances in the concert hall. Our extensive and varied background in arranging and performing string music also makes us an ideal option for studio-based session work. Our engagements have seen us play in venues from Inverness to London, in Edinburgh's St. Mary's Cathedral and Canongate Kirk, the castles of Edinburgh and Stirling, the palaces of Holyrood and Scone, the hotels of Gleneagles and St. Andrew's Bay, and the officer's messes of Redford Barracks and RAF Leuchars, to name but a tiny fraction. Beyond the core quartet, we draw from an ever-expanding pool of professional freelance string players, all of whom are accomplished chamber musicians. Alongside the quartet, we also frequently appear as the Thistle Street Trio, as a viola/cello duet, or solo instrumentalists - when repertoire, taste or logistics requires it - and as the Rose Street Ensemble in almost any combination of instruments... the sky is the limit (although a 67 strong string orchestra felt pretty close to the limit...). Our string ensembles can be (should you wish it) all-female or all-male, and if it is a period or themed event for which you require our services, we are more than willing to dress appropriately... We are also frequently asked for other instrumentalists, and are more than able to accommodate through provision of lounge pianists, organists, ceilidh bands, singers, brass groups and more... We have an extensive repertoire spanning over four centuries, covering many genres, and our catalogue is continually expanding. We also produce our own unique arrangements.
