Maureen Scott Quartet - Jazz Band - Tyne and Wear
Band ProfileMo/Maureen Scott's quartet is a bluesy jazz group comprised guitar, bass, percussion and Mo on vocals. Available for a wide range of functions in the North East and further a field. As 'Little Mo', Mo Scott was one of the leading blues singers not only in the North East, but thoughout the UK, where she regularly appeared at jazz & blues festivals. In recent years, though, she has revealed herself as an excellent all round jazz singer, giving distinctive readings of delicate ballads and standards from the Great American Songbook (though she can still belt out a rousing 12-bar blues as well as anybody in the country). She comes to the Corner House with her regular quartet, with guitar virtuoso Rod Sinclair (himself at home with the whole spectrum from classic jazz to full-on r&b), award-winning bassist Neil Harland, and propulsive drummer Paul Smith Mo, who has established a reputation through performances at major jazz and blues festivals, is regarded as one of the most exciting female singers around. Carrying on in the tradition of the great female vocalists, she perform a variety of music ranging from the most 'delicate' of jazz ballads to 'hot' blues. The Quartet -featuring guitarist Rod Sinclair - sees Mo leading a band that can truly swing and groove and provide the perfect back drop for some great songs. Mo has performed at numerous prestigious festivals in the North East as well as TV performances on Spender, Tyne Tees Television and others.
