Band ProfileChunky by name, Funky by nature. There is no mistaking this dynamic Leeds based band. Some faces have changed but the groove is still the same and there are testaments in all four corners of the globe to confirm this. Chunky Butt Funky's music is rooted in gospel which stems from lead singer Rev Chunky's years as a minister but the influences are many - Funk, Blues, Jazz, Rock and Reggae flow like a river. One of the most outstanding features of this brilliant band is their audacious interpretations of classic songs. This is one band you do not want to miss and to quote a fan at a recent performance 'There is no one better live than Chunky Butt Funky. They were so good I almost went back to the front door to pay again!' Chunky Butt Funky's lead vocalist Reverend Chunky, or Cleve, is one of the most talked-about front-men on the music scene today, with his blend of funk, soul and blues. With his roots steeped in gospel music, Cleve Chunky has been writing, singing, playing and performing since the age of four and has credits on albums in the UK and USA. After 3 years of touring across America, he resettled in the UK and began collaborating with local musicians including the well-known Pete Shand and the late Jason Rae (deceased, husband of Corinne Bailey Rae). His collaborations have led to the genesis of one of the most popular bands to grace the city of Leeds, or any city in the UK or the world for that matter!
